This course is essential preparation as you work your way towards your RYA Yachtmaster exam.
This course provides advanced training for more experienced skippers who are building on their skills or following an RYA Day Skipper Practical or Theory course.
This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows some time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques.
Course topics include:
- Position fixing;
- Course shaping and plotting;
- Tidal heights and streams;
- Use of almanacs and admiralty publications;
- Electronic position finding equipment;
- Taking and interpreting forecasts;
- Plotting weather systems;
- Weather predictions using a barometer and by observation;
- Collision regulations &
- Customs and excise regulations for cruising abroad.
RYA Coastal / Yachtmaster Theroy Course>
The Coastal/Yachtmaster theory course is the level required for RYA Coastal Yachtmaster, RYA Yachtmaster offshore practical certificates and is a pre course requirement for the RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory course.
The course is made up of detailed lessons, most of which are animated for easy learning. Each lesson is followed by a set of questions which you can answer online. Once an answer is submitted the feedback is instant in the form of a detailed answer page. Some answers will be forwarded to your instructor who will provide personal feedback and help where required.
For piece of mind you will be allocated a dedicated RYA Yachtmaster who can be contacted by phone or email to answer any questions you have or provide that extra little bit of support you require.
You can book your course on line and be working straight away on the sections where the RYA pack is not needed. Your RYA pack, containing your charts, RYA almanac, RYA course notes, plotter and dividers will be posted first class post the same day.
