MCA/RYA Yachtmaster™ Coastal (Preparation and Exam)

RYA Motorboat > MCA/RYA Yachtmaster™ Coastal (Preparation and Exam)

Overview

Course
Syllabus

The RYA Yachtmaster™ Coastal qualification is a major achievement and you will need to demonstrate a wide breadth of existing knowledge. This course provides the opportunity to prepare for your exam by covering refresher training in a number of key areas, and culminating in an exam with an external RYA examiner.

A commercially-endorsed Yachtmaster™ Coastal can use their knowledge to undertake commercial coastal passages up to 60 miles from a safe haven and cover commercial work on board vessels up to 300 gross tonnes, carrying up to 12 passengers.

The preparation section of the Yachtmaster™ Coastal course is 5 days. The exam is up to 2 days (depending on the number of students) and usually runs immediately after the preparation days. Passing your Yachtmaster™ exam is a fantastic achievement; whether you plan to use the qualification for commercial purposes or will continue to go boating simply for the fun of it.

Catherine - RYA Day Skipper

"We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Vince is already planning when he can do his coastal skipper training. I'll be a bit out of commission for the next while, but will catch up once little one is a born and a bit bigger.
We're very happy we learned about Urban Truant at the London Boat Show.
So, thank you!"
